About

A Champion for Students! A Champion for Educators! A Champion for Families!

I am running for re-election to the Hart District School Board because there is still important work to do. I have served on the school board for nine years as a consistent champion for students and educators. Real progress requires strong leadership and a commitment to delivering results, and my record reflects that commitment.

While I am proud of the progress we’ve made for students, staff, and families, public education is constantly evolving, and new challenges continue to emerge. Recent efforts at the national level have created uncertainty about the future of public education, making strong local leadership more important than ever. As a school board member, it is my responsibility to ensure that students and staff in the Hart District are protected and impacted as little as possible by these changes. Meeting these challenges requires experienced leadership and a proven advocate for our schools.

Education is my passion because I have seen firsthand how it can change lives. It opens doors, inspires dreams, breaks cycles, and equips students to navigate life’s challenges. I am committed to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education and that we remove systemic barriers that might stand in the way of their success. Today’s school boards must also navigate complex and often heightened community conversations around curriculum, transparency, student rights, and the growing role of technology, including AI tools like ChatGPT, in the classroom. In this environment, it is essential to listen to all stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, staff, and taxpayers, while understanding policy and the law, and making thoughtful, informed decisions. That is why experienced leadership matters, especially at the junior high and high school levels, where decisions directly impact how we prepare students for college, careers, and adulthood.

As a champion for students, my focus has been, and will continue to be, on supporting all learners and expanding opportunities, including closing the achievement gap, strengthening career technical education, supporting alternative and adult education, prioritizing student wellness, and investing in performing arts, athletics, facilities, and strong fiscal management. I also believe in engaging parents as active partners in decision-making.

Public school teachers are life changers. I know this because I have been one for over 30 years across five school districts. I have served as an instructional assistant, teacher, and administrator, including in the William S. Hart Union High School District. I understand the challenges educators have faced in recent years, and I deeply value their dedication. I am honored to get to work with them as a champion for our students and families!

I have proudly called Santa Clarita home since 2005. I am married to my husband, Paul Charles, a U.S. Navy veteran, and we have four wonderful children. Two have attended schools in the Hart District, and one is currently a 9th-grade student. As both an educator and a parent, I know how critical it is for every student to have a champion on their campus. That perspective drives my commitment to serve as a champion for every student across the District.

I am honored to have the support of respected educators and community leaders. While serving on the Board is demanding, I remain committed to using my experience to continue delivering results for our students and educators.

With your vote on November 3rd, we can do “Moore” for the Hart Board and continue championing positive change.
